Beyoncé estrena ‘Black is King’, su esperado álbum visual

Las reinas del pop están de regreso este año. Taylor Swift y Lady Gaga ya estrenaron disco, lo nuevo de Katy Perry tiene fecha de lanzamiento, Rihanna ha dicho que pronto habrá nueva música, se rumorea el regreso inminente de Adele y Beyoncé presentaba esta mañana ‘Black Is King’. Inspirado en la emancipación de los esclavos negros en América, ‘Black Is King’ es el largometraje que acompaña la reedición de ‘The Gift’, la banda sonora de ‘El Rey León’ que corre a cargo de la artista.

Queen B lanzó el sencillo promocional ‘Black Parade’ un mes antes del estreno del álbum. La canción ya hacía pronosticar que la reedición de ‘The Gift’ seguiría con la fusión de música africana y pop, y finalmente así ha sido. Esta nueva versión del disco viene sin los interludios de diálogo de la película e incluye ‘Black Parade’ y un remix de ‘Find Your Way Back’, una de las favoritas del álbum.

“‘Black Is King’ es fruto del amor. Es mi querido proyecto que he estado grabando, investigando y editando día y noche durante el último año. He puesto todo de mí y ahora es vuestro. Originalmente fue grabado para acompañar la banda sonora de ‘El Rey Leon’ y para celebrar la amplitud y la belleza de la ascendencia negra. Jamás imaginé que un año después, todo el trabajo duro detrás de esta producción sería para una causa mayor. Lo sucedido este 2020 han hecho que la visión y el mensaje de este largometraje sea todavía más relevante”, explica Beyoncé sobre su obra.

I typically keep comments short and sweet, but I just watched the trailer with my family and I’m excited. 🎶please don’t get me hype🎶🤪 “Black Is King” is a labor of love. It is my passion project that I have been filming, researching and editing day and night for the past year. I’ve given it my all and now it’s yours. It was originally filmed as a companion piece to “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack and meant to celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry. I could never have imagined that a year later, all the hard work that went into this production would serve a greater purpose. The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant, as people across the world embark on a historic journey. We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. I believe that when Black people tell our own stories, we can shift the axis of the world and tell our REAL history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books. With this visual album, I wanted to present elements of Black history and African tradition, with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy. I spent a lot of time exploring and absorbing the lessons of past generations and the rich history of different African customs. While working on this film, there were moments where I’ve felt overwhelmed, like many others on my creative team, but it was important to create a film that instills pride and knowledge. I only hope that from watching, you leave feeling inspired to continue building a legacy that impacts the world in an immeasurable way. I pray that everyone sees the beauty and resilience of our people. “Con este álbum visual quiero enseñar los elementos de la historia negra y las tradiciones africanas, con un giro moderno y un mensaje universal, y lo que verdaderamente significa encontrar tu verdadera identidad y construir tu legado”, añadía.

Los dos últimos discos de la cantante también han sido álbumes visuales, pero este es, sin duda, el más ambicioso hasta la fecha. Además, tiene un mensaje precioso y pretende dar voz a las culturas con menor cabida en la cultura occidental, y que tan útiles son para entender los problemas raciales que ocurren actualmente, especialmente en Estados Unidos, y que combate el movimiento #BlackLivesMatter.
