The researchers recorded synaptic transmission, short-term plasticity, and even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK10878\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">long-term potentiation<\/a>, a process widely seen as a cellular basis for learning and memory. That is why this result stands out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A preserved structure is one thing. CA1 pyramidal cells became less excitable, while granule cells in the dentate gyrus remained more resilient.
